my resume

My name is Arthur, a Creative Director based in South Korea for the past 12+ years (F-2 Visa). My academic background in Korea (and back in my home country, Brazil) is focused on content creation, media, design & languages. I attained a double major in Entertainment Design & Advertising at Hanyang University (4 years, full course). While studying, I managed to self-fund my studies whilst also developing my career goals, acquiring more than 6+ years of experience working in South Korea (as well as other small projects in other countries in the Asia-Pacific region) for local and overseas companies in Brazil, USA, Japan, China, and Thailand.  I also speak not only my mother tongue Portuguese but also English, Spanish, and Korean.

I am working as Freelance Creative Director, dabbing in the realms of Creative Directing, Videographism, Motion Graphics & Graphic Design. Have been lucky to be under the wing of the Director of Photography Anthony King, with whom I had the chance to be his Assistant Director on several projects related to South Korean Artists, such as Lisa (Black Pink), Ha:Tfelt ( Ex-Wondergirls), Lee Songyeong, Nive, Kim Sunjae, SBGB, Sam Kim, Youha, Yejun, Sole, Tama & Gaekko.

Under his direction and guidance, I have been honing my skills in several areas of videography, such as Storytelling for multiple formats outputs [documentary, narrative, vlog, social media, advertising, and corporate]; Lighting for several situations, dealing with prosumers equipment as well as big tier professional equipment [Arri Spotlights, Skypanels, Astera & LED lights]; Color Correction & Post Production [Davinci Resolve and Premiere] & Camerawork, dealing with a broad range of prosumer camcorders to DLSRs [ Sony, Black Magic, Canon] as well as gimbals, drones and sports cameras from DJI brand. [Have own filming equipment]

Recently, I also have been working as a Broadcast Translator/Interpreter for Riot Games for Valorant, League of Legends & Wild Rift but also producing & shooting Esports-related content in South Korea. In the past, I also worked as a Localization Specialist & Community Manager at Smilegate, a Korean game company that created featured digital products like Crossfire, Lost Ark, and Epic Seven, where I was responsible for Content Development, Translation, and Localization for Marketing, Design and Business departments from English and Korean to Brazilian Portuguese; as well as the role of Social Media Manager, responsible for overseeing, planning, executing and uploading graphic & video content on social media channels & generating weekly reports regarding diverse social media channels (Youtube, Facebook, etc); and also supporting Customer Service.

Other important achievements would include working at Bomsen, a Korean-based Advertising Agency, where I was responsible for developing graphic designs, video content, digital content & motion graphics to be used on social media & paid ad campaigns for national & international brands such as Krispy Kreme, Hertz, TGIF, UST, Worknet, Sejong Cyber University & Lotte GRS, The Food House, Villa de Charlotte, among others.

I have also had the privilege of working with the prestigious music video production company Zanybros for several years. While working there, I played an important role as Assistant Creative Director / Producer in their newly formed ZanyTV team, responsible for planning, executing, and managing creative content for Social Media Platforms. While there, I had a chance to hone my skills in many areas, such as creative concept development, videography, video editing, translation, narrative, on-set interpreter, producing, graphic design, social media & content development.

At Zanybros, given the highly diverse and dynamic working environment, I was put to test to enhance several important skills, such as teamwork, conflict resolution, critical observation, strategic thinking, and planning. Worked directly with high-profile South Korean Artists, such as Hyuna, Mamamoo, BAP, EXO, KNK, KARD, SNSD, and many more.

I also have experience working with Public Sector and Non-profit organizations. As a freelance photographer/videographer, I could assist the Embassy of Brazil in Seoul on several projects (attached to my portfolio), such as video and photography coverage of events, filming, editing, and producing interviews, motion graphics, and other related contents catered for Facebook, Instagram and Youtube platforms run by the embassy. Having had the chance to work closely with several staff members from diplomatic institutions, I am well-versed in the practicalities, protocols, and norms associated with this particular working environment.

On the side, due to my broad interest in volunteering & Computer Graphics, I have been participating in the SIGGRAPH ASIA Conference- an experience I have been fulfilling as a volunteer yearly since 2014 as the Video Team Director, responsible for coordinating a multicultural team during pre-production, execution, and delivery of outputs to be used for the promotion of the conference.

In both my academic and professional experiences, I have been consistently praised as hard-working by my professors and co-workers. Whether on academic, extracurricular, or professional projects, I describe myself as a problem-solving, creative thinking, multitasking individual, with outstanding social and interpersonal skills, of bright, emphatic, and highly enthusiastic personality, qualities that were put into practice while working together with highly diverse teams, with people from all over the world and their different backgrounds, religions, and identities.

I consider myself a big dreamer, resilient, and an avid problem-solving individual who is used to challenges and loves diving deep into learning about different cultures and working together with a highly diverse team on exciting projects. Please don't hesitate to contact me via email at arthiekwon@gmail.com to discuss how I could help you and your companies & projects.

I am looking forward to working together with you!
